Partner Spotlight: Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)

We can all get so busy during the span of just one month that sometimes we forget to reflect on what’s going on around us. I often think about how cancer can seem to take away all of a person’s time. Since October is coming to a close in about a week, I’d like to spotlight my charity partner for this month: the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Breast Cancer Research Foundation

What makes the BCRF special? They’re a nonprofit committed to finding the best ways to prevent and cure breast cancer. Not only do they provide funding for cancer research worldwide, but they also fund survivorship programs designed for people with an increased risk for developing breast cancer.

Currently, there are 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. But, we lose 40,000 lives to the disease each year. That’s why the BCRF has relentlessly continued their life-saving projects. Over the last 25 years, deaths from breast cancer have declined by nearly 40%! That being said, there’s still so much more to discover and help survivors and those at risk.

The BCRF encourages collaboration between scientists in order to drive advances in the field. They also take a look at a variety of possible links between lifestyle and the disease. For instance, their funds have led doctors to discover links between breast cancer and a number of other issues from high blood pressure to diabetes to kidney and pancreatic cancers.

When I started this journey to help others find their strength, raise awareness, and raise money for charity, I knew I wanted to make the most of what I could do to support the causes that create positive change for the future. When I recently unveiled my designs for the new Butterfly for Breast Cancer Research Necklace  I was so excited by the incredible amount of support I received from Change Makers looking to make a difference in the world. This design, inspired by the image of a breast cancer cell, features a butterfly as a symbol of metamorphosis. During its transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly, it undergoes an intricate and complex experience. Then, the butterfly emerges from the process with new resilience, power, and determination.

This new necklace, along with a collection of other designs, offer survivors and those at risk a better chance to take back their sense of strength by donating to breast cancer research funds. That’s why I’m honored to partner with the BCRF this October.

Accomplishments

Up to date, the BCRF’s dedication to their work has led them to distribute over $27 million to 90 projects for metastatic research. I’m so inspired by the work they do! I hope you’ll join me in supporting their foundation and providing a better chance for people globally to not just survive, but thrive.

In the past, our partnership with the BCRF has led us to create unique designs for research, participate in spreading awareness and early detection information, and host our own fundraising events. Now, thanks to the support of all our incredible Change Makers, we’ve been able to donate almost $1,800. Wow! Let’s keep working together to make an impact on breast cancer research and awareness.

I hope you’ll join me this month in supporting this amazing cause! Take a look at all of the pieces in my collection and make a difference in someone’s life.
